Bioassay Automation Designed for Scale

As screening demands increase, throughput and unattended run time become critical. PIPETMAX® 278 Bioassay is a pre-configured, application-based automation workstation built for labs running multi-plate bioassays, higher sample volumes, and more complex assay layouts.

With a large 16 position deck, built-in tip intelligence, and standard PIPETMAN® DIAMOND Tips, PIPETMAX 278 Bioassay delivers consistent, walk-away assay preparation while controlling consumable costs. Flexible software tools and optional heater, shaker, and chiller modules support complex, temperature- and mixing-dependent workflows, all backed by real Gilson scientists who help your team scale with confidence.

Product Features

PIPETMAX® 278 BIOASSAY

Bioassay Automation Designed for Scale and Flexibility

PIPETMAX 278 Bioassay is purpose-configured to support higher-throughput bioassays and screening workflows, while remaining flexible enough to adapt as assay formats evolve. Key features include:

  • Pre-configured Bioassay workstation ready to run common screening workflows
  • Large 16 position deck supporting multi-plate setups and longer walk-away runs
  • Two interchangeable 8-channel pipetting heads (MAX8x20 and MAX8x200) supporting 1–200 µL transfers (up to 1200 µL with optional MAX4x1200 head)
  • Built-in tip intelligence that automatically selects 1 to 8 tips per step for optimal speed and tip efficiency
  • Accurate low-volume dispensing critical for miniaturized assays and high-density plates
  • Uses standard PIPETMAN® DIAMOND Tips for cost-efficient automation
  • Example bioassay protocols, including ELISA
  • Enclosed system that limits hands-on exposure during biological assay preparation

Together, these features allow labs to run more plates per day, reduce variability across users and runs, and scale discovery efforts without sacrificing data quality.

Accessories Image

Optional accessories allow PIPETMAX 278 Bioassay to support higher-throughput and more complex assay workflows, including temperature- and mixing-dependent steps. Integrated heater, shaker, and chiller modules, along with higher-volume pipette head options and expanded deck configurations, enable greater walk-away automation while maintaining consistency as screening demands grow.

Consumables Image

PIPETMAX 278 Bioassay uses standard PIPETMAN DIAMOND Tips, enabling labs to scale throughput without switching to proprietary consumables. Combined with built-in tip intelligence, the system optimizes tip usage to reduce waste, control consumable costs, and simplify inventory management in high-density, multi-plate workflows.
